Jimmy Vesey, for the second straight year, Vesey (VEE-zee) is a Hobey hat trick finalist. Known as a great two-way player who made others around him better, he is the nation’s leading goal scorer over the past two seasons bagging 56 goals including 24 this year.

For two years in a row, Vesey is the Ivy League Player of the Year, the ECAC Player of the Year, First Team allconference and a repeat winner of the Walter Brown Award as the top American-born player in New England.

In 33 games this past year, Vesey scored 24 goals and 22 assists for 46 points, often playing with extra coverage for this veteran sniper.

A Nashville draft pick (3rd round), Vesey turned down a pro offer last year to complete his senior season and finish his degree in Government.

He speaks fluent Mandarin and assists in several community projects including the Travis Roy Foundation fundraiser and helping in maintenance to get a high school ready for the school year.

A very fast and dynamic forward, Connor completed his rookie season as the nation’s leader in points and goals and did so in fantastic fashion, ending the year with a 27-game point streak. Attempting to become the second straight freshman to win the Hobey, Connor has already been acknowledged as the Big Ten conference scoring champion, Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, First Team all-conference and All-Freshman team. His balanced attack included 35 goals and 36 assists for 71 points in just 38 games. The first round draft pick of Winnipeg picked up points in 35 of his 38 games and had multiple-point efforts in 19 of those games. Off the ice, Kyle participated in “Mock Rock”, a student-athlete talent show fund raiser and he also assisted with the “Grow Blue” initiative to raise awareness for men’s health issues.

Demko had a sizzling start to the season recording six shutouts in his first nine games. But many observers feel it was key saves at critical times during a game that helped his Eagles soar to the top of Hockey East and ultimately into the Frozen Four championship tournament. Demko was named Most Outstanding Player at the Northeast Regional as well as co-Player of the Year in Hockey East and First Team all-conference. Entering the NCAA Frozen Four tournament, Demko has a 27-7-4 record and a nation’s best ten shutouts. His goals against average of 1.85 is tied for 7th in the nation and his save percentage of .936 is tied for second. A second round draft pick of Vancouver, Demko is an Applied Psychology major and has assisted with the Boston College toy drive at Christmas.

An outstanding playmaking center iceman, Compher (COME-fer) leads the nation in assists and is second in scoring. As captain of the Wolverines, he is known as a solid two-way player and a great leader. A First Team all-conference selection in the Big Ten, Compher had an 18-game point streak earlier in the season and his plus-minus of +35 is fourth in the nation.

Playing collegiately in his hometown, Lynch was the Atlantic Hockey scoring champion, First Team all-conference and the circuit’s Player of the Year. His 55 points in 39 games is currently fourth in the nation, and he was known as a player dangerous in all situations. Especially effective on the penalty kill, Lynch had 8 short-handed goals this season to lead the country.

• Majoring in Manufacturing Engineering with 3.9 GPA and has been on the Dean’s List every semester – is a national finalist for the Senior CLASS Award

Coming off an All American season a year ago when he led the nation in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts, Lyon had another banner season. Lyon was named First Team All-Ivy League, ECAC Goalie of the Year and First Team all-conference, as well as being a finalist for ECAC Player of the Year. Also a finalist for the Walter Brown Award, Lyon was a big part of Yale’s rise to a second place finish in the ECAC.

• Had a record of 19-8-4 with five shutouts – had school record 50 career wins
• Had a goals against average of 1.64 (1st nation) – save percentage of .936 (tie-2nd nation)
• Political Science major – lived on an island in Lake of the Woods until age six

Motte joined linemates Compher and Connor as the only line to ever become Hobey top ten finalists, giving Michigan the most potent line in college hockey. Motte currently sits second in the nation in goal scoring and third in points. A Big Ten First Team all-conference recipient, he had an 18-game point streak and 12-game goal scoring streak earlier in the season.

• Had 32 goals, 24 assists for 56 points in 38 games – had 17 multiple-point games
• Chicago draft pick (4th round) – scored 18 goals in 69 games during first two seasons
• Sport Management major – helped build a home for Habitat For Humanity

WCHA including Player of the Year, First Team all-conference and WCHA scoring champion. Petan, the team captain, helped Tech to a share of the WCHA regular season title as the Huskies had only one loss in 2016 until their final game loss to Ferris State.

• Had 18 goals, 15 assists for 33 points in 36 games – had six power play goals
• Sport and Fitness Management major – assists with youth hockey and school visits
• In his 3rd career game, scored a goal which made Sport Center’s #3 Play of the Day

A break-out campaign for Poturalski (potter-ALL-ski) saw him soar to near the top in the nation in scoring. Deadly on the power play, Poturalski’s 24 points with the man advantage ties him for first in the nation and helped him to the Hockey East scoring title. Twice named Hockey East Player of the Month, Poturalski, was also a First Team all-conference honoree and signed a pro contract as a free agent with the Carolina Hurricanes at the completion of his season.

• Is 7th in the nation in points and assists – Business Administration major
• Helps in a variety of community service activities and mentors a child with a brain tumor

The lone defenseman to crack the top ten had a fabulous finish to his career. Prow led all blueliners in the nation in both points and assists. With the playmaking quarterback on the power play, the Huskies had one of the best power plays in the nation. Prow’s prowess on the ice earned him NCHC Player of the Year honors, Defenseman of the Year, Offensive Defenseman of the Year and First Team all-conference.
